Me
Brief Timeline of my Life
I was born in Niigata Japan, and was raised mostly in Claremont, a college town in Southern California. My first words were in Japanese, but my first memories are of America. I've been blessed with the ability to live in multiple worlds at the same time for all of my life, and I want to be able to utilize that experience. Through my early years I would go to school in America, and vacation in Japan, although vacation inv0lved more schooling, as Japanese schools are year-round. This alongside the Japanese Saturday school I attended gave me more than enough resources to maintain my understanding of Japanese, but my family is what gave me the desire to hold onto my language and heritage. That being said, my studies in the United States took precedent, as I planned to attend college through my U.S. academic achievements. While I contemplated attending a Japanese University, I eventually decided to pursue a higher education at University of California, Santa Cruz, where I followed my passions and ruminated on the future. After graduating with a degree in Business Management Economics and a minor in East Asian Studies, I elected to continue my education in a more specialized field with UC Berkeley, and chose accounting as a specialization. With this knowledge and specialty, I started working at EOS Accountants LLP, an auditing firm that specialized in corporations with international (Japanese-American) branches, subsidiaries, or general activities. While the experience rejuvenated my love of cross-cultural dialogue, it also helped me realize that auditing in particular was not something I would plan on continuing. As I had always wanted to live in Japan, when the opportunity arose I left for Japan with few plans and many dreams. I now work as an internal Internet Security and System Management specialist at a large Japanese telecommunications company. While I have learned much, I have also felt that my calling may be elsewhere. Currently, I'm searching for a line of work where I can continue to further my knowledge of the world while also nurturing my hobbies and passions so that I may fold them into my work.
Who I am and What I Like
I've always loved most creative mediums: music, art, books, games, anything that could convey an interesting idea another individual had is something that I've gravitated towards. Losing myself in an imaginary worlds of fantasy, immersing myself in masterful brush strokes, listening to explanations of the world through the lens of another, experiencing the mechanical intricacies of a set of systems someone else created; all of these things excite me in the same way I'm excited when I'm able to experience the life and knowledge of another. When I look at art, for just a moment I can see the world the way the artist sees. When I read a book, for just a moment I can imagine the reality the author creates. When I listen to a song, for just a moment I can hear what the musician hears in their head. When I play a game, for just a moment I can exist in the way the developers imagine. I live to experience the lives of others.
I also adore baking, cooking, history and a myriad of other creative activities. I have never been very outdoorsy, and have compensated by learning as much as I can about the world inside and out from the comfort of the indoors.
